He made his first flute in 1952 and worked up into his 90s. He was a master designer and craftsman who built several types of flutes and piccolos, ranging from student models up to and including this one and beyond. Emerson became famous in the music world when he was requested to create flutes not only for classical orchestras, but for the Lawrence Welk TV show.

It's great for band, orchestra, jazz and blues. This is an open hole flute that allows the player to create variable notes; it doesn't keep the player from sealing a note if the unit has a few silver-topped plugs; this one has some I will include.

It has the B flat foot & easy access key that offer advanced players the ability to get that low note and high C. Crafted with a sterling silver head joint and a sterling silver plated brass/nickel body, this flute produces a clear, crisp yet rich, barreled sound that is sure to impress any audience. I've played a lot of different flutes over the last 65 years and this one I rate in the top 3. Included is the cleaning rod with tuner marks, hard-sided case bought in Wisconsin and carry bag with shoulder strap made in Canada by DEG.
