Late 20th century German Simple System 8-key Flute In Good Condition
This is a listing for an unbranded German-style 8-key flute. The style is similar to the "Nach-Meyer style" flutes massed produced in the late 1800s going into the early 1900s.
It has a decently full and strong sound and quite a good low D and C. I cannot say for certain that it has the same kind of lower register power prized by those interested in Irish Traditional music, but it is robust and works well for Romantic-era repertoire. The headjoint is grenadilla, but it is also metal lined inside and out with nickel-silver (not sterling silver).It also has a metal tuning slide. This flute was recently renovated by Jeremy from the Vintage Clarinet Doctor site.
It is new white leather pads, tenon corks, and headcount cork. It has a reasonably well-polished keywork. IMPORTANT: This flute, with headjoint pushed all the way in, plays closer to A450 Hz. With headcount pulled out about a centimeter and a half to two centimeters, it will play near A442.
As such it plays higher than modern Boehm flutes when pushed all the way in. Additionally, the case comes with the flute!
